A WOMAN allegedly assaulted in Ennis town centre on Thursday evening remains in an “unconscious state” in hospital, a court has heard. Details of the woman’s condition were outlined at a special sitting of Ennis District Court today (January 30), during the appearance of the man accused of her assault. A woman sustained serious head injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend in Co Clare on Thursday evening, a court has heard. At a special sitting of Ennis District Court this evening, Patrick Ballard (34) of Ashford Court hotel, Ennis was charged with the assault causing harm of his girlfriend, Sharon Bennett in Ennis's Market area on Thursday evening.
