Article content Last week’s photo was of some tree roots on the Sifto loop. The Sifto loop is notable for having a very old oak tree which began life around 1780. This area is also a good place to see birds, both among the bushes and in the Maitland River. Two birders were out recording some bird songs on May 4. The Sifto loop is also part of the “Sort of Scavenger hunt.” Sometimes a windfall exposes an interesting entanglement of tree roots, such as one seen at Bannockburn Tract.
