12/22/2020 Removing Providence Plantations from Rhode Island’s name: Urban/suburban racial voting differences On Nov. 3, 2020, Rhode Island voters approved a ballot question that removes “Providence Plantations” from our state’s name, by a margin of 52.9 percent to approve versus to 47.1 percent to reject.
