Army recruiters may earn up to $1,500 for signing “high-quality” candidates after meeting their quarterly recruitment quota.
Gen. James McConville, the Army’s chief of staff, said the challenges to increase recruiting numbers are formidable. By the end of 2022, the Army was hoping to have 473,000 troops, but ended up with about 465,000 after lowering its goal twice.
Their visit included a tour of RELLIS and lunch with the Corps of Cadets.
The Army is thousands of enlistees short for the recruiting year ending in September, so it is trying something else: prep courses for written test scores and weight loss programs to make the grade.
The Future Soldier Preparatory Course hopes to give potential recruits who are just short of meeting U.S. Army physical or academic standards the small boost they need.
