The closing of the prosecution’s case in the Regency murder trial yesterday leaves a huge body of evidence for the Special Criminal Court to weigh up in the coming weeks.

Regency trial witness Jonathan Dowdall did not appear to have had “any clear opportunity” to be in a park where he alleges Gerard Hutch confessed to murder on one of the possible dates he gave for the meeting, the Special Criminal Court has heard.
Dowdall testified that Gerard Hutch told him in a park that he and another man had shot David Byrne at the hotel.
The court was told that the prosecution’s case against Gerard Hutch and his two co-accused should end on Thursday.
