Sisters urge Kulim council to show compassion

Compiled by SIM LEOI LEOI, ALLISON LAI and R. ARAVINTHAN
THREE sisters in Kulim, Kedah, who were fined by the municipal council for operating an unlicensed roadside stall, have urged the authorities to show compassion and fairness to them, Makkal Osai reported.
The unnamed siblings started the stall selling snacks after their hair and make-up business took a hit because it had to remain closed during the movement control order.
The sisters said they were ordered to remove their stall and told to pay a fine immediately.
The trio were dismayed by the enforcers’ action and claimed that other stalls in the same area in Paya Besar were allowed to operate.

Pahang PKR divisions reject tie-up with Dr M's Pejuang

KUANTAN: Ten PKR divisions in Pahang have approved a motion to reject any form of political cooperation with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his Pejuang party.
Pahang PKR communications bureau chief Wan Fauzuldin Wan Samad said the Kuantan, Indera Mahkota, Pekan, Paya Besar, Maran, Temerloh, Bera, Jerantut, Kuala Krau and Lipis divisions voted unanimously to carry the motion during their annual general meetings.
The Rompin, Cameron Highlands, Raub and Bentong divisions had yet to hold their meetings, he said on Monday (April 5).
"In general, these divisions are calling on PKR to reject any cooperation with Dr Mahathir because he betrayed Pakatan Harapan by intentionally resigning as prime minister without consulting with the presidential council.

Unhealthy culture creeping in Umno could affect party, says Mohamad

SEREMBAN: An "unhealthy culture" is emerging in Umno with banners being put up in some places calling for the party president to step down, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
In expressing his concerns, the Umno deputy president said he was also saddened as offensive words were used to ask Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to make way, adding that it did not mirror the party's culture and values.
"In fact, this does not reflect the morals of Muslims and Malays. We should never be disrespectful to the institution of the president but always treat it with courtesy and good manners," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 26).

Umno leader echoes sentiments for Zahid to step down as party president

PUTRAJAYA: An Umno leader has openly asked Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to relinquish his position as party president, claiming that lack of leadership and direction has resulted in members to be dispirited.
Paya Besar division chief Datuk Ahmad Tajuddin Sulaiman said actions by some supreme council members and its party MPs were not in line with Umno’s stand on issues and policies.
“This has exposed the party to attacks and resulted in the Malays losing their confidence in the party.
“The fact is that we sorely need their support in the 15th General Election, ” he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 22).
