Maharashtra: School Education Dept proposes reopening of schools for pre-primary to class 12 from January 24 in places where COVID-19 cases are low

Amid strong demand from several experts, parents and teachers’ associations, the School Education Department has submitted a proposal for Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s approval for reopening of schools for pre-primary (junior KG and senior KG) and from class 1 to 12 in urban and rural areas from January 24 where there have been low COVID-19 cases.

FPJ-Ed: Pediatric Task Force leaves decision on reopening of schools to Maharashtra govt

The Pediatric Task Force headed by Dr Suhas Prabhu on Tuesday did not recommend any time frame for the reopening of the schools but supported the Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope’s recent statement that the Maharashtra Government will evaluate the demand for school reopening in 15 days after review of the ground-level situation with regard to COVID-19 and Omicron variant cases.
