A Kirkwood mother is desperate for her young son to undergo much-needed and expensive heart surgery, hoping he will one day lead a happy and normal life.

Again doing what little boys were made to do, playing in mud and kicking stones, two Eastern Cape children who received life-saving heart surgeries are back at school and thriving.

This Eastern Cape mom spent sleepless nights worried that something might happen to her youngest son, who was born with a hole in his heart, before he got the life-saving operation he needed.

A 17-year-old boy who has been on the heart surgery waiting list for 16 years has finally received the life-saving operation he has been dreaming of for most of his life. Zithobile Dayile, from Walmer township, Gqeberha, is recovering at home after his successful operation a few weeks ago. The surgery, which was performed at the Busamed Private Hospital in Paardevlei in the Western Cape, was to repair a faulty tube in a hole in his heart.
