PENDLETON — Come this summer, nearly half of the Pendleton School District Board will consist of new faces. At a Jan. 6 school board meeting, Chair Debbie McBee announced that she and board members Gary George and Steve Umbarger intended to retire from the board at the end of their terms expiring in June. PENDLETON — In the wake of a bleak week, the administrators of Sunridge Middle School donned costumes. Sunridge Principal Dave Williams became an elf, Jingles McKringle-Berry, and Assistant Principal Jared Tesch turned into Santa Claus as they headed out into the community to deliver stockings filled with gifts to children in the community. July 14, 1951 — December 9, 2020 Gregory K. Henson, 69, formerly of Pendleton, Oregon, passed away on Dec. 9, 2020, at his home in Portland. He was born in Boulder, Colorado, and moved to Pendleton, Oregon, at 6 weeks of age, when his father got a job teaching music with Pendleton School District 16R. Greg graduated from Pendleton High School in 1969; and the University of Oregon in 1974. He was an avid and loyal Duck fan his entire life.
