Couple of my friends. when you get this frenzy going in the country, you remember back when you were in high school or, you know, when you were in college, when you d go to those pep rallies and people get so revved up and get so angry and then all of a sudden one of the people that is kind of lives on the edge does something stupid. and i think in an environment where you have all of this name calling and everything is so critical, and this person s bad and this is horrible, what happens is somebody who s not very well balanced might do something crazy. and i think we saw some of it in the last two days. let me ask you history buff to history buff, what does the word nationalism mean to you? well, it means looking inward to me. it means, you know, everything is about revving up your own folks. you know, that s what that word means. i think that our leaders in our country forever, particularly since well, even starting ....
no. please stop that. that s just turn those off. thank you. oh, my gosh. long week. but, you know, it lines up. while we were doing that, you had the sox game. earlier you had donald trump giving another one of his pep rallies and he s been doing every two years. and what a contrast it really brought up. because we were asked the question on colbert, what is the democrats message? who is the one democrat who has inspired you that s put the message together? and i will say for once in our lives, we sat there stunned. we had nothing to say which really, mika, leads to a reason for a lot of americans to ring their hands 18 days out from the election. what s the democrats message? you would think we re doing so well right now, susan. are we like do we have this thing the down for the midterms? ....
Suffering, other groups of americans can understand that, okay, they didn t get to go to a pep rally and we ll have to reschedule it and the president should be focused and worried about other things. i realize the president can t go down there and change things or maybe the storm go away or make the recovery any better any faster. but it is significant. it makes it look like the the president and this president in particular doesn t care. and i can tell you in florida on a roll level, jeb bush wasn t going to pep rallies while hurricanes were coming into florida. we will be talking to jeb, in fact, the next hour. it s something no leader of any substance or worth would do ....

Have all the justices sitting there in an attempt to show some, some unity and have the president of the united states turn into a political pep rally. i ve never seen anything like that. i m wondering if you have. no. that s what donald trump does. he turns them into pep rallies. he turns them into reality shows. that s what he knows how to produce. the problem for joe and people like yourself is it s successful. he is somehow articulating what a lot of people feel, which is boy, i guess everybody ganged up too much on this guy. it was unfair. and i think it was astonishing that donald trump almost with the help of the democrats had been made something that should have played very strongly into the democrats hands into something that s going to on balance help republicans ....
