Endangered Malayan Tiger Dies In Terengganu, Shot By Poachers With 8 Bullets To Lungs & Stomach

A Malayan tiger found with multiple gunshot wounds in Terengganu last week has died due to extensive injuries, announced the Wildlife & National Parks Department (PERHILITAN).
In a Facebook post, PERHILITAN explained that the male tiger named Awang Rasau had died on 5th March at Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Veterinary Hospital due to a combination of nerve complications, digestive system failure and an infected wound on its hind leg.

The tiger was rescued by PERHILITAN from a FELDA oil plantation in Kemaman Terengganu and it was initially thought that there were only three gunshot wounds on its hind legs. ....

Tiger Cub Drowned To Death At Zoo Negara

An 11-month old Malayan tiger cub at Zoo Negara has died after drowning at the zoo’s tiger enclosure’s moat, revealed New Straits Times.
The news portal also learned that the female cub, Melur, had in fact died in March this year and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) confirmed that it was informed of the tiger cub’s death.
It is believed that Melur’s death was accidental, though not many details are currently known.
She was born in May 2019, with brothers Wira and Hebat, to parents Kayla and Jati – and their births were a cause for celebration as a milestone for the zoo’s in-captivity breeding endeavours. ....
