Bicol schools told to adopt distance learning due to bad weather

Department of Education-Bicol Regional Director Gilbert Sadsad (PNA file photo) LEGAZPI CITY - The Department of Education (DepEd) has directed schools division offices (SDOs) in the Bicol Region to adjust their learning modality and adopt modular distance learning during localized class suspensions due to the effect of the shear line and low pressure areas. In a statement on Thursday, Gilbert Sadsad, DepEd-5 regional director, said the directive is based on DepEd Order No. 37 or the guidelines on the cancellation and suspension of classes and work in schools in the event of natural disasters, power outages, power interruptions and other calamities. He said modular distance learning, performance task, projects, or other similar activities shall be implemented to ensure that learning competencies and objectives are met by students.
