The stone walls of a 19th century jail that once held notorious bushrangers have been unearthed in the Tasmanian town of Perth.
Real estate agent Ian Shackell says the person who buys the Perth Gaol, built in 1862, will need deep pockets and the will to renovate a heritage property, complete with 18 cells, gallows and a fortified courtyard.
The Perth Gaol on Beckwith Street in Perth, Ont. is for sale, with an asking price of $495,000.
