Media Commentator Peter Cox says Facebook “overplayed their hand” with the removal of news from its platform. “Whether you look at Google, or you look at Facebook, or the Prime Minister, or the Treasurer, they’re all very capable of looking after themselves in a fight and what we’ve got here is a really good fight,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny. Mr Cox said where the government was wrong was they did not allow alternate avenues for Facebook for pay for content. “What Facebook won’t want to have to do is pay for the material, they may want to pay in some other way.”
