  Gunmen believed to be kdinappers have reportedly shot a popular cleric, Evangelist Edim Edim Omin and abducted a former Accountant General of Cross River State under Donald Duke’s administration, Mrs Rose Bassey, and three other commuters. The victims were picked up on Tuesday evening along Uyanga-Ikomita axis of the Calabar-Ikom Highway, Cross-River States. It was reported that the gunmen forced the passing motorists to stop as they besieged the highway.

The Nigeria Police Force, Cross River State Command has confirmed the death of a police sergeant, who was killed by unknown gunmen at Edgerton Street, Calabar, the state capital. It was learnt that the assailants killed the police identified as Sgt. Peter Ikwen and took his rifle. This was contained in statement signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, describing the incident as condemnable.
