Jubilee's Ng'endo wins Huruma ward by-election

In a victory speech, Ng'endo applauded IEBC for conducting a free, fair and credible by-election.
"None of the candidates including myself witnessed malpractice. There were no missing names or the electronic voting devices malfunctioning. The IEBC did their job well," she said.
The victor extended an olive branch to her competitors imploring them to join hands in developing the ward.
"Many are called and few are chosen. We cannot be all elected at the same time thus I ask my competitors to join me in improving the lives of locals," she said.
Jubilee Deputy Secretary-General Joshua Kuttuny who was at the tallying centre congratulated the winner, noting that the win was a clear demonstration the party has a fanatical following in the region.

Fresh Twist As Igathe Tells Court His Resignation Was Not Formalised
The intrigues surrounding þhe governorship of the capital Nairobi has taken another twist after former Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe asked the court to determine whether his resignation was formalised.
In an affidavit dated January 12 and made available on Wednesday, Igathe says he was not aware if legal steps to formalise his resignation were conducted.
Noting that he formally tendered his resignation letter on January 12, 2018, Igathe said neither then Governor Mike Sonko nor the Speaker of the assembly acknowledged his letter.
“The legal effect of the failure to formalise or recognise my resignation and the failure by Nairobi County or any public institution to conduct any legal formalities to conclude my resignation is a matter to be determined by the court,” he said.

“That the legal effect of the failure to formalise or recognise my resignation and the failure by the Nairobi County or any public institution to conduct any legal formalities to conclude my resignation is a matter to be determined by this honourable court in my humble view,” he said in an affidavit.
The High Court has already stopped the by-election as announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), pending the determination of several cases.
The court also stopped Deputy Governor Anne Kananu Mwenda from being sworn in as the governor, pending the determination of a case filed by Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
