KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 2, 2022) – Jim Martin, a pharmacist licensed in both Georgia and Texas, received the National Community Pharmacists Association’s 2022 Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award as part of NCPA’s Annual Convention, which was held Oct. 1-4, in Kansas City, Mo.
In a letter to the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding, the Center for Veterinary Medicine at FDA has agreed to delay the enforcement of animal compounding GFI 256, “Compounding Animal Drugs from Bulk Drug Substances – Guidance for Industry” to April 2023. Enforcement had originally been slated to start on Oct. 1, 2022.
The Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding has designated Sept. 15 as Compounding Advocacy Day. APC would like to supplement its APC’s Compounders on Capitol Hill event and congressional visits that day with supportive messaging from compounders back home. The Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding is asking NCPA members to send prescribing physicians a sign-on letter for them to send to FDA Commissioner Robert Califf (with copies going to congressional leaders) urging the commissioners not to restrict compounded hormone therapy based on a discredited report it commissioned, and instead to base any decision about compounded hormones on solid evidence.
