Centre asks AIIMS-Delhi to limit duration of PhD scholars, scientists working on research projects to six years
The Indian Union Health Ministry has directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to limit PhD scholars and scientists engagement on research projects to six years. Despite protests from scientists and AIIMS faculty members, the Health Ministry maintained that appointed personnel will be prohibited from continuing beyond six years of cumulative engagement. Such a move could potentially terminate 1,400 employees, which include researchers and technical staff members who were previously employed on various projects at AIIMS.
