M Po-Lin Pan, professor of strategic communication at Arkansas State University, has been elected president of the Southwest Education Council for Journalism and Mass Communication. An affiliate of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the Southwest Education Council for Journalism and Mass Communication promotes the recognition, welfare and progress of journalism and mass communication education in the Southwest United States. As president, Pan will help plan the organization's 2023 Symposium to be held at Arkansas State University.

Matt Bristol was one of the four teachers nominated at the middle school on the east coast. A total of twenty teachers from across the country were chosen for the honor among all grade levels.

Jessica Willson, an adapted physical education teacher at Harford Academy, was named an Eastern District 2023 Teacher of the Year by the Society of Health and Physical Educators.
