NASA's Psyche spacecraft is scheduled to launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on October 12. This mission, part of NASA's Discovery Program, aims to study the composition, geology, magnetic field, and gravity of the unique asteroid named Psyche. The spacecraft will employ a solar-electric propulsion system to reach the asteroid, which is located between Mars and Jupiter.

NASA’s Psyche mission, a project with deep roots at MIT, is setting course for a metallic space rock that could be the remnant of a planetary core like our own. Its principal investigator is MIT alumna and former professor Lindy Elkins-Tanton, who leads a team including longtime MIT colleagues on the first mission to a metal world.

The planet is larger than Jupiter.

Could two planets be sharing the same orbit around a star? This is a question that has puzzled astronomers for centuries. In recent years, however, new evidence has emerged that suggests that co-orbital planets may be more common than previously

A spectacular new image released by the European Southern Observatory (ESO) gives us clues about how planets as massive as Jupiter could form. Using ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), researchers have detected large dusty clumps, close to a
