Former netballer Margaret Forsyth is on a month's leave to focus on her health challenges.

“Looking after herself is the only thing Margaret needs to focus on right now. We are sending her and her family our love and warmest wishes.” Forsyth is serving her third term as a Hamilton City Councillor. She first served from 2010 to 2016 and was elected again in 2019. She is currently chairwoman of the council’s environment committee. In a statement, Forsyth said she appreciated the support from her council colleagues and staff, but would not be making any public comment. The paid leave is effective from April 11, 2021.
