Affordable Housing: Union Govt Approves Construction Of 56,000 More Houses Under PMAY Urban

The Union government has approved the construction of 56,368 more houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) Programme, the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs said in a statement.
The new project was approved at the 53rd Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee Meeting held on 22 February. These houses are proposed to be constructed under various verticals of PMAY-U Mission. A total of 11 States and Union Territories (UT) attended the meeting.
“Let’s get into the mode of implementation and execution,” said Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). He urged the States and UTs to ensure 100 per cent completion and delivery of PMAY-U houses to all its eligible beneficiaries within the mission period.
