Blustery winds, cold, and intermittent blowing snow greeted the trotters and pacers as they returned to Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania for Saturday’s 2024 opening card.
This Saturday’s (Feb. 17) opening card of the 2024 harness racing season at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania was drawn on Monday, Feb. 12. There will be twelve races for the trotters and pacers in the curtainraiser, with the first set to go at 1 p.m.
Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania is set to start its 2024 harness racing season as the fields for 11 qualifying races, the first action of the year at the mountain oval, were drawn on Friday, Feb. 9.
Daryl Scott Bier, 57, died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, of a heart attack, at his home, in Endicott, N.Y. Mr. Bier, a native of Jessup, Pa., was born July 14, 1966, to Esther and Arthur Bier. A second-generation harness racing horseman, Mr. Bier made his career training and driving Standardbred racehorses beginning in 1987.
