Planned hikes will be at the Northland Arboretum, and at St. Mathias Park and Heritage Trail Written By: PineandLakes Echo Journal | 5:00 am, May 3, 2021 × The Brainerd Lakes Area Audubon Society offers local birding hikes in two locations, weather permitting. Hikes are open to adults and families and will be led by experienced leaders and species tally assistants. The locations are the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd at 8 a.m. Saturdays, May 8, 22 and 29, and at St. Mathias Park and Heritage Trail in Brainerd at 8 a.m. Tuesdays, May 4, 11, 18 and 25. Each Northland Arboretum walk is about an hour in duration with routes generally including the Whiskey Creek and Monet Pond wetlands, surrounding wetlands and the open prairie area popular with eastern bluebirds and tree swallows. ....
