Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 21 (EMN): The Nagaland Police on Friday observed Police Commemoration day at Tennis Court in New Reserve Phesama, Kohima. Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Police (DGP) T John Longkumer recalled its inception following an incident on October 21 in 1959 that changed the perception of the sacrifices made by policemen. “On this day, the October 21 in 1959 a CRPF Mobile Patrolling Party led by DCIO Karam Singh was ambushed in Aksai Chin area of Ladakh by overwhelming numbers of Chinese troops,10 were killed and rest taken prisoners,” he said. Our Correspondent Kohima, June 27 (EMN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) felicitated Kedouvilie Zumu and Nlumrai, who won bronze medals at the 6th International Sports Festival – Belt Wrestling Championship, Pearl of Kyrgyzstan 2022 at Chon-sary-oi, Kyrgyzstan. A felicitation programme was held in their honour at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) building in Kohima on Monday. Nagaland’s Director General of Police (DGP) T John Longkumer, attended the occasion and hailed the NWA for building the foundation, providing the way and the road map for the wrestlers through their support and platform to the youngsters. He stated that wrestling is a traditional sport especially for the Tenyimis, a heritage of the sporting past and appreciated the NWA for making it more inclusive and opening doors even for other tribes. This was informed by Chief Secretary J Alam on Wednesday in an interaction with journalists at his conference hall at Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima along with the Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha and Director General of Police (DGP) T John Longkumer. The chief secretary said that out of the eight communications were received on the mobile phone numbers by the police, two were ‘testings’ and six were actionable information, which the police are taking further follow-up action.
