Concept of some sort of policy arguments based on principles is laughable. the record is playing something pretty important. i think we ll learn more about this frankly after the election. after there are democrats who no longer have much to, much utility in defending what they voted on. and when they can open up a bit more about this. when it s no longer in their interest to defend the health care bill. but they re speaking pretty eloquently now in the way they re not defending much of the bill in their own re-election campaigns. remember, the theory was that they would pass this, and as ugly as the bill was, and as much of a rub goldberg machine as it looked like, it was going to become more popular over the course of the year. russ feingold, steve israel, a couple of democrats are saying it was worth it to pass this mess. we ve got people that keep staying on the insurance until they re 26 and we ve got a ban on preexisting conditions, denying you health care. but the rest of it h ....

Show, i promised him the last word. it s in your contract. i understand that. we re going to hear the name bush a lot on policy arguments over the next three months. the bush tax cuts and then of course, he s got his first book out coming up just after the election. does the fact that bush is going to be quote out there in the blood stream of the american political debate, does that change how the democrats should do this. i think it helps the democrats. if it book comes out soon enough it, makes it seem to make sense why they re talking about him again. this is an indication that the democrats don t think they have much. remember, this was the party that was they were promising us in february we re going to be running on health care. they re not running on health care. they re running on bush. all right. savannah guthrie and lawrence o donnell, the lavendar word debuts monday september 27th. savannah, i ll see you tomorrow. i promise i m coming back to washington. we ll see you ....

Voters might be turned off saying is he whining, is he complaining. hey, you wanted this job. what are you going to do about it? i think that s the real threading of the needle that the white house is trying to do. since we ve got to promote a show, i promised him the last word. it s in your contract. i understand that. we re going to hear the name bush a lot on policy arguments over the next three çmonths. the bush tax cuts and then of course, he s got his first book out coming up just after the election. does the fact that bush is going to be quote out there in the blood stream of the american political debate, does that change how the democrats should do this. i think it helps the democrats. if it book comes out soon enough it, makes it seem to make sense why they re talking about him again. this is an indication that the democrats don t think they have much. remember, this was the party that was they were promising us in february we re going to be running on health care. th ....

Betrayed his base and has just kept doing what dick cheney wanted to do. well, okay. fair enough. there are obvious policy arguments where you can say they may have continued the bush/cheney policies. i think people are oversimplifying it to say it s a simple continuation of the presidency. the borderer point is the same. have you a community on the left and the white house just talking past each other. robert gibbs said the left wants canadian style health care and the removal of the pentagon. i can t really name a single person who wants the end of the pentagon and barack obama himself has actually touted the virtue of canadian style health care. at the same time the left is pushing an individual mandate for health insurance. they were mad at obama during the campaign because he didn t have an individual mandate for insurance so you have two communities that aren t on the same page. and to bring it back to the past conversation, in an election where really it s about turning ....

America s justice system works and the republicans believing that it s a way that can somehow harm our national security. and there are people, i think, there are good people that seem to you can make substantive policy arguments on both sides. it isn t always about politics, but it s shot through with politics as well. . let s move on to some real news. ellen degeneres made her debut as a judge on american idol last night. some of us were watching live. some of us are engaging in teenage viewing habits. she managed to keep it real without hurting too many feelings and worked in a little bit of funny, too. seriously, don t frighten your audience. don t get don t get so intense, you know. sexy and scare, it s a fine line. tired as it is, that almost put me right out. it was crazy, i think. in a bad way, crazy. i m sorry! where are you from? florida. okay. you should put some shoes on here. it s filthy here. ....
