Haiti crisis plunges country into extreme vulnerability to natural disasters
The poorest country in the Western Hemisphere has struggled to cope with major disasters in the past, and with anti-government factions in control of large parts of the country, major questions exist on what a response to a natural disaster will look like. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports life-saving humanitarian assistance and transportation in the country’s capital has come to nearly a halt.
