A popular bakery chain has collapsed owing $2m, with administrators urgently trying to find a solution to save the business.

After having been barred from setting up night food stalls from Clock Tower to Popular Bakery for obstruction of traffic and movement of pedestrians besides complaints from nearby colonies, the food truck/food cart street vendors have been reallocated space in the Naga Shopping Arcade (Super Market).

Dimapur Urban Council Chairman’s Forum (DUCCF) has lauded the Dimapur district authorities for removing the food cart vendors around the Clock Tower and nearby areas in Dimapur town besides making an appeal for streamlining entry of heavy vehicles and repair road from Dillai gate to Old flyover near hotel Tragopan.

DIMAPUR: The joint council of NST and Middle Point colonies have asked the Dimapur district administration to permanently stop vendors from running food stalls on the footpath in their localities and relocate them to other areas. In a joint statement, the colonies lauded the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Commissioner of Police, and Chief Executive Officer of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) for removing vendors running business on the footpath in the main town areas, especially from Clock Tower to Popular Bakery, which falls under the two localities. Though food carts have been withdrawn from occupying parking areas and setting up dining areas on public footpath, after a warning issued by Dimapur Police, some hawkers and vendors carried on business between Popular Bakery and Smart Bazar as witnessed on Monday.
