New DID Outstanding Teaching Award

Dr Anna Grimaldi has been awarded the Department of International Development’s inaugural Annual Teaching Award.
The Department of International Develop has initiated a new annual teaching award to recognize excellence in teaching and the learning environment within the Department by early-career staff members. The annual Award offers a further mechanism by which students’ voice is able to recognize and support good teaching in the Department. The award was open to nominations until March 10
th, via an online form circulated by the Student Engagement team to undergraduate and postgraduate students in DID. Nearly 30 students submitted their nominations! ....

National Aboriginal Art Gallery Senior Director appointed

Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Chansey Paech has announced the appointment of a Senior Director to lead the delivery of the National Aboriginal Art Gallery.
Tracy Puklowski will take up the role on 24 May 2021.
Ms Puklowski will be responsible for leading a project team of five officers with various skills across curatorial, engagement and project management. She will also provide input into the design of the art gallery; develop content and programming; and engage with stakeholders in Alice Springs, and nationally, to ensure the ongoing success of the gallery.
Ms Puklowski has extensive knowledge about the arts, museum and culture sectors, demonstrated throughout her career which includes senior roles at museums, libraries and archives across New Zealand and in Australia. ....

He described the programme as “awesome” and said the time he spends with Gates Scholars in Cambridge “is a week that I cherish greatly”.
Bill Gates Sr. died in September 2020 at the beginning of the 20th anniversary of Gates Cambridge, but his legacy as a champion of Cambridge’s foremost international postgraduate scholarship programme will be felt for decades to come.
The scholarship programme was established through a US$210 million donation to the University of Cambridge from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000; this remains the largest single donation to a UK university. ....

All university students who have not yet returned to campus and in-person teaching will be able to do so from 17 May, at the earliest, the Government has confirmed today (Tuesday 13 April).
The timing aligns with Step 3 of the Government’s roadmap, where restrictions on social contact and indoor mixing will be further eased, and aims to limit potential public health risks associated with student populations moving across the country. ....
