Deliberate and casual remarks and opinions that denigrate Indigenous Australians and immigrants abound. It is concerning to note that racist views are often aired with confidence and a presumption that one will agree with, and certainly not challenge, such hurtful bigotry and prejudice.
I understand the reasoning behind the idea of HECS/HELP giving students the opportunity of a university education, but they must realise it is a debt for life.
Perhaps there could be an “Uncle” and an “Auntie”, rather than just a single head of state, so that “men’s business” and “women’s business” are given equal standing.
Emboldened by electorate success, the Greens are now calling for a decade of inaction to be followed by far-reaching legislation which could have the capacity to adversely affect the livelihoods of many working families.
