PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/Asia News Network): Continuous rainfall over the past few days has resulted in flash floods affecting several provinces in Cambodia, causing disruption but not harming lives, according to Soth Kim Kolmony, spokesperson for the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM).
The Kampong Thom provincial administration urged people living along the Stung Sen River in the province to be highly vigilant to avoid eventual dangers as the water level of the river has reached a high level.
Heavy downpours have been a regular occurrence this rainy season, with the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology predicting moderate flooding this year and urging people to remain on alert.
In the first six months of this year, eight children drowned in Kampong Thom province’s Prasat Sambor district, mostly due to “parents or guardians’ negligence”.
