In full view of the surveillance cameras attached to Central Police Station, Guyanese proprietor Hamenauth Sarnedranauth was conducting business at his Tudor Street store.
In fact, not only was he caught on two occasions, but one of those days was last Sunday when all stores were supposed to be closed.
Sarnedranauth, 48, of Tudor Street, St Michael, was in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to contravening Paragraph (3), Subparagraph (1) of the Emergency Management COVID-19 Protocols Special Curfew No. 3 Directive 2021, in that there being a directive requiring every person to observe such social distancing and associated protocols in the interest of public health imposed on the island from February 3 to 17, being the owner of a non-essential service not permitted in this directive namely Premier Wholesale, he failed to remain closed on February 14 and again on February 16. ....

A businessman accused of keeping his wholesale place open despite previous warnings was ordered to keep it shut by the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Zubair Akoojee, 31, of Whitepark Road, St Michael, denied he contravened Paragraph (3), Subparagraph (1) of the Emergency Management COVID-19 Protocols Special Curfew No. 3 Directive 2021, in that there being a directive requiring every person to observe such social distancing and associated protocols in the interest of public health imposed from February 3 to 17, being the owner of a non-essential service not permitted in the directive, namely Premier Wholesale, he failed to remain closed on Monday.
Prosecutor Sergeant Victoria Taitt did not object to bail but asked the court to warn the accused to adhere to the protocols and to keep his business closed. ....

Businessman Zubair Akoojee who operates Premier Wholesale, has been warned to keep his establishment closed.
And to demonstrate the seriousness of the warning Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes made the condition part of the businessman’s $10 000 bail.
The 31-year-old, of Whitepark Road, St Michael appeared in the No. 1 District ‘A” Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with contravening Paragraph (3) sub-paragraph (1) Clause (v) of the Emergency Management (COVID-19) (CURFEW) (No.3) Directive 2021 which requires every person to observe physical distancing and associated protocols in the interest of public health.
It is alleged that Akoojee, the owner of a non-essential service closed under the directive, failed to close his business Premier Wholesale yesterday – February 8. ....
