Lafourche issues curfew due to freezing weather

Due to dangerous freezing conditions, Lafourche Parish President Archie Chaisson has issued a mandatory curfew from 8 p.m. Monday until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Chaisson is urging residents to stay off of the roads due to ice and other hazardous conditions caused by freezing rain and temperatures.
Though a curfew in Terrebonne is not expected, officials are asking residents to stay off the roads if possible and be careful using space heaters.
“Deputies will be monitoring all highways and there is always a potential for closures, though we are not anticipating any (curfew) at this time,” said Terrebonne Sheriff Tim Soignet. Drivers in our area did a good job today of playing it safe. We urge everyone to continue to drive safely and carefully. “
