jamie: former alaska governor sarah palin firing up any enthusiastic crowd in east texas. greeting 5,000 supporters at the oil palace in the town of tyler on saturday. blasting president obama for his handling of the bp disaster. and what she calls his socialist agenda. the administration, kind of hinting that government needs to take over more aspects of our private industry. it scares the heck out of me! that does put us on the road towards a more socialist agenda and that is not what america is made of and that is not where we should be headed. [cheers and applause]. jamie: she was introduced by rick perry, running for a record third term in office and face
nuclear objectives. gregg: you say we should do more. what more? well, i think we should declare that it is the policy of the united states government to change the regime in tehran and get rid of the islamic revolution of 1979 and have a system of representative government, i think the people of iran are ready for it and i think the regime is deeply unpopular, but, president obama continues to follow his policy of extending that open hand, even after the fourth security council sanctions resolution, secretary of state clinton said that the objective of the sanctions was to bring iran to the negotiating table. so, i think we re sending a signal, of weakness and that simply encourages iran to continue to pursue its nuclear weapons and terrorism objectives. gregg: let me hit a third subject, if i may, ambassador. afghanistan. are we in trouble there? not only because the president s choice in military strategy doesn t at least so far seem to be working all that well, but,
ineffective. gregg: ambassador, let me turn to another subject, iran. congress as you know passing new sancti sanctions, the president will soon sign the bill and targets foreign companies that sell gasoline to iran and companies that help develop its energy sector and it targets financial institutions connected to the revolutionary guard. do you think these sanctions will do anything at all to change iran s behavior, in developing nuclear weapons? i think they ll have next to no impact on the nuclear weapons question, they are a step forward and anything that puts pressure on the regime in tehran is a good thing, we need to do more, but, nobody should be under any illusions that it will slow iran down from its progress towards nuclear weapons, the iranian government is very close to that now and, neither these sanctions nor eu sanctions that are coming, or the last set of security council sanctions are enough at this point, to stop them from achieving their
that suit, and, what is the potential fallout. well the potential benefits are it could motivate latino varieties and people likely to vote republican are a lot more enthusiastic about the upcoming election. this is the kind of thing that could motivate the democratic base and latinos in particular who gave mr. obama far greater votes than they did the republican nominee. last election. also looking ahead to 2012 it this is same sort of thing the fallout, though, is i think the issue cuts both ways and i don t know if it is fallout, so much as it is just a wash. there are states and house districts where it will play well for democrats, the whole issue, there are states and house districts, where this is going to play really well for republicans. and, you know, as i have been saying about this, right now this public is so fixated on the unemployment rate be a the oil spill in the gulf of mexico, that i m not sure how much attention it can garner politically or otherwise, because so m
gregg: in the meantime inside the g20 summit, world leaders are lining up behind a pledge to cut government spending, not the strategy of more stimulus spending, presidentadvocating t. joining me is the former u.s. ambassador to the united nations, a fox news contributor, ambassador john bolton, ambassador, always good to see you. on the eve of the summit democrats here in congress shelved president obama s request for more government spending with another economic stimulus package and now we are seeing leaders at the g20 summit, also rejecting mr. obama s demand for more government spending. instead, the opposite, they are adopting a commitment for government cuts. has president obama s influence among the g20 diminished? i don t actually think so, because if you look at the specifics on what they are poised to agree on, it is simply saying for example that the
