A week into Pride month, Hamilton police say they've received about a half-dozen reports connected with suspected stolen flags at homes and schools.
Last year, the town of Paonia approved the flying of Rainbow Flags on Grand Avenue in commemoration of Pride Month. The flags flew un-interrupted until June 14th when they were replaced with the American flag for Flag Day. The next day the Pride Flags returned and so did the complaint from those who found the banners offensive. The flags are not allowed to fly on Grand Avenue this year, however, The Learning Council's "Color the Town" campaign is taking the celebration to local businesses and residents.
For LGBT advocates, the issue is about inclusion versus privilege.
