Once upon a time, I did not have a skincare routine. I know, it’s shocking. Even more shocking is the fact that it wasn’t all that long ago. I was in my thirties before I got into skincare and began educating myself on ingredients and routines, which doesn’t feel unreasonable in the context of the ageing process and the skin’s needs, but does feel unreasonable in the context of the preteens on TikTok with skincare fridges full of Drunk Elephant products. The main thing is, I got there eventually, and I got there with gusto. These days, my night-time skincare routine is a highlight of my day. I do it the minute my children are asleep and really enjoy applying layers of beautiful products before finishing with a night cream and leaving myself ready to slip off my pillow.
