"Solving arithmetic word problems by synergizing syntax-semantics extra" by Xinguo Yu, Xiaopan Lyu et al.

This paper presents a relation-centric algorithm for solving arithmetic word problems (AWPs) by synergizing a syntax-semantics extractor for extracting explicit relations, and a neural network miner for mining implicit relations. This is the first algorithm that has a specific component to acquire implicit knowledge items for solving AWPs. This paper proposes a three-phase scheme to decompose the challenging task of designing an algorithm for solving AWPs into three smaller tasks. The first phase proposes a state-action paradigm; the second phase instantiates the paradigm into a relation-centric approach; and the third phase implements a relation-centric algorithm for solving AWPs. There are two main steps in the proposed algorithm: problem understanding and symbolic solver. By adopting the relation-centric approach, problem understanding becomes a task of relation acquisition. For conducting the task of relation acquisition, a relaxed syntax-semantics method first extracts a group of ....

XSEED releases Annual Results Report; XSEED students outperform non-XSEED peers by +21 per cent

New Delhi [India], March 15 (ANI/PRNewswire): XSEED Education released its Annual Results Report at a warm lively high-tea ceremony at Taj City Centre, Gurgaon. The report details the performance of over 61,000 students in Grades 1-8 on the 2022 XSEED Learnometer Skills Test, a national test of English, Math, and Science conducted in 21 states of India. The test is generally considered more difficult than traditional ones as it requires students to apply their knowledge rather than just recall facts and formulas. Apart from the findings, the 38-page report lays out four implications for school education. Proud XSEED employees and their families gathered to celebrate the release. Of the encouraging findings, the most impressive was that XSEED students showed a +21 per cent performance advantage over non-XSEED students in the challenging middle school grades (6, 7, 8). This is remarkable as middle school is when students tend to struggle with increasingly abstract and complex syllabus co ....

Are you a good puppy? yes, you are! look how cute you are! look at those big eyes and floppy ears. you re such a good puppy! sniff it. 0k! becky and anna are paying close attention to see how paige reacts to human interaction. right. they laugh they re looking to see how she deals with problem solving. yes, she s. she s. she knows. that s a good sign because a guide dog s ability to find their way around a problem is, well, just part of the job. good girl. that s also interesting that she s. she s been to that one, smelled that one. she s like, mm, it s not there. and she s actually worked out to go to the other one. so, in itself, that s interesting. during the pandemic, all training and breeding here stopped. guide dogs say they needed to protect their staff and volunteers. so that is our puppy reception. it is really unfortunate. ....
