The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) has warned motorists of the closure of the N1 in Centurion between Sunday and Monday.
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) would like to notify road users to expect road closures to allow for geotechnical investigations required for the rehabilitation of the N1 sinkhole near the Flying Saucer Interchange in Centurion. These investigations are required to complete the design of the remedial works required for the rehabilitation of the sinkhole to promote road safety and to allow for traffic to return to normal.
The N1 freeway in Centurion will be closed this Sunday and Monday, the SA National Roads Agency said on Thursday.
Weekend travel on this stretch of the N1 is set for some major disruption, and SANRAL has advised motorists to avoid the 'sinkhole route'.
Authorities have said they rescued a motorist from suspects on Friday night while patrolling along the N1 freeway near the Stormvoel off-ramp.
