Psychology professor discusses ADHD, cigarette smoking at Faires Faculty Forum

Dr. Jessica Rhodes, assistant professor of psychology at Westminster College, will present “ADHD & Cigarette Smoking: An Examination of Prognostically Relevant Behaviors and Mediators of a Complex Relationship” at the Faires Faculty Forum at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, via Zoom.
Rhodes will discuss her findings that analyze the relationship between individuals with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and cigarette smoking. Rhodes said individuals with comorbid psychiatric illnesses smoke at significantly higher rates than the general population, raising the need for additional research on this vulnerability. Rhodes will expand on the factors that contribute to this phenomenon as well as discuss prevention and treatment options. ....
