This move primarily because of money. many school districts all across the country, particularly out west, hit by some serious financial woes, by eliminating one school day a week, school districts are able to slice into their operating costs. although for the most part, teachers are paid phone on a salary basis, this is really affect the hourly employees, janitors, school cafeteria workers, bus drivers and able to save money on that area. now the u.s. department of education who wouldn't comment specifically of school districts, didn't have the issue of going to a four-day-a-week schedule. ot...
