A radiologist says it was too hard to direct staff to give adrenaline to a mum suffering an anaphylactic reaction who later died.
Dr Gavin Tseng told an inquest he was too busy trying to give Peta Hickey, 43, oxygen when she had a severe allergic reaction to dye used in a heart scan.
He d directed staff at a Moonee Ponds clinic to administer diazepam and hydrocortisone intravenously but said teaching a more junior radiographer or medical assistant to inject adrenaline mid emergency was too complex because they d have to draw up a syringe and inject it into Ms Hickey s thigh. ....

A specialist radiologist who administered an injection of contrast dye into a Melbourne woman as part of a heart scan before she suffered a fatal reaction says he didnât give the woman potentially life-saving adrenaline because he could not do two things at once.
Consultant radiologist Gavin Tseng was working at Future Medical Imaging Groupâs Moonee Ponds clinic when Peta Hickey arrived for a CT angiogram offered by her employer Programmed Skilled Workforce Limited on May 1, 2019. ....

A doctor whose name was used to sign off on a heart scan which killed a healthy mum thought she d been assessed beforehand, declaring not doing so would be madness .
Dr Doumit Saad told a coronial inquest he d never let a patient undergo such an invasive procedure without first making sure it was suitable.
Dr Saad said he d only ever been commissioned to review CT coronary angiograms a company had suggested for senior executives including Peta Hickey, 43, who suffered a fatal anaphylactic response to contrast dye at a Moonee Ponds clinic. ....
