Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Tuesday that Iowa will end participation in several pandemic-related federal unemployment benefits programs due to a severe workforce shortage.
May 12, 2021 Yesterday Governor Kim Reynolds announced several additional benefit programs will be coming to an end in Iowa on June 12th. These include: Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) Mixed Earners Unemployment Compensation (MEUC) Citing lack of available workers as the primary motivation, the Governor hopes that these moves will ease the dramatic worker shortages some industries have been experiencing.
