Influence u.s. internal politics or something more? i think it s an indication of sort of this shotgun approach by russia coming from all directions, probing all areas of the republican party, the republican establishment, republican candidates, and then the republican nominee and president donald trump. i also think it shows us a brazenness about russia s sort of pseudo espionage operations that goes much more broadly over the past several years. the dnc hack itself was not all that sophisticated, pretty easy to trace back to russia. the disinformation campaign that they mounted on social media often very clumsy, riddled with errors. they bought the ads in rubles in many cases, and then right up to their attempted assassinations of dissidents in the u.k. where they almost intentionally call attention to their own ability to mess with us. and i think that s part of the point. ....
