"Simulation and optimum control of a two-stage compression air source h" by Shuang Jiang, Yao Yu et al.

Two-stage vapor compression technology can effectively improve the performance of an air source heat pump, and a staged compression system with two separate compressors has a highly flexible modulation capacity. However, the effect of different volume modulation approaches on the heating COP requires further analysis. In this study, a Modelica-based dynamic simulation model of a two-stage air-source heat pump was developed and verified with experimental data. A numerical optimization method was used to obtain the optimum frequencies and low- or high-stage cylinder volumes of the compressors that maximize the COP. The results show that the three optimization approaches have different effects. At lower ambient temperatures, varying the high-stage compressor cylinder volume can yield the maximum COP among the three optimization methods, followed by varying the low-stage compressor cylinder volume and compressor frequencies. At higher ambient temperatures, varying low-stage cylinder volume ....

"An efficient video watermark method using blockchain" by Qingliang Liu, Shuguo Yang et al.

Nowadays, one of the most common approaches for video watermarking is to use singular value decomposition in the discrete wavelet transform domain. In our prior work, we formulated a video watermarking problem to achieve the maximum peak signal to noise ratio as an optimization problem. It chooses wavelet coefficient points in key frames with minimum distortion cost. Yet the existing solution has two drawbacks (1) it requires to store a large number of coordinates depending on the watermark size; (2) it is vulnerable to video frame attacks on the video frame texture area. To avoid them, this paper proposes a blockchain-based approach. Its main concept is to choose wavelet coefficient blocks in key frames and leverage blockchain to connect all the blocks. Our experimental results show that this approach is memory efficient because it only requires to store a single key for a key frame, which is independent of the watermark size; and the overall robustness is greatly improved due to the ....

"Complete Targets Coverage in Energy Harvesting Internet of Things With" by Rui Yang, Changlin Yang et al.

This article considers deriving set covers or the set of active nodes that are responsible for monitoring all targets in an Internet of Things (IoT) network. A key distinction to prior works is that this article considers sensor nodes aided by backscatter communications, which allow them to communicate with negligible energy cost using ambient radio frequency (RF) signals. The article contains three main novelties. First, it presents a mixed integer linear program (MILP) that can be used to compute the global optimal solution. Second, it also outlines a centralized greedy scheduling (CGS) algorithm that selects nodes based on their energy and the number of covered targets. Third, it presents a distributed greedy scheduling (DGS) algorithm that selects nodes according to their energy level. The simulation results show that equipping nodes with ambient backscattering capability increases the ratio of complete targets coverage by more than 100% as compared to existing techniques. ....

"Particle Swarm Optimised Controller for Solid-State Transfer Switch To" by Glorria Sebastian, M. A. Hannan et al.

This study proposes a solid-state transfer switch (SSTS) using fuzzy logic controller (FLC) design approach for enhancing the productivity and effectiveness of FLCs under harmonics conditions of a non-linear load using particle swarm optimization (PSO). A PSO-based FLC (PSOF) fitness function is also used to optimise and reduce the MSE to enhance the load transfer performance in a short period of time. The PSOF approach eliminates the time-consuming conventional trial-and-error method of deriving membership functions (MFs). Based on the fitness function evaluation findings, the created adaptive MFs are incorporated into voltage error and rate of change of voltage error for input and output. A harmonic filter is used to remove unwanted harmonic components induced by linear and nonlinear loads. To make sure the proposed control system works, the results are looked at both with and without PSO. The obtained transfer times were reduced by about 2ms, 4.35ms, 3.68ms and 3.56ms for 100%, 50%, ....
