Grounds. U. S. Capitol Police Closed parts of independence avenue. This morning, a large tree branch fell, hitting a Maintenance Worker at the capitol. Matt mcclana han was uncon shuns when help arrived. They gave him cpr and rushed him to the hospital where he died. Thats awful. Im sorry to hear that, prayers to his family, condolences. Reporter tours were detoured while police investigated. The architect of the capitol issued a statement this afternoon, saying that a large branch from an american elm fell and struck Matt Mcclanahan who was working nearby on an irrigation pipe. Crews remained on the scene for hours to remove the tree from the roadway and sidewalk. So many hours later, six hours after this tragic accident occurred, ind still closed on the south side of the u. S. Weve had all the cloud core. Had a bit of a suggest wind yesterday. So this morning we are waking up to those 50s around the bay. Five mile visibility, though, in san jose. That has certainly gotten worse in the past hour. Be careful out there. We are looking for the clouds to hang around for most of the day. Police are still looking for a plan who shot and killed a man on a bart train at the west oakland station. It happened just before 8 00 last night. Witnesses dell us the victim was sitting next to the trains car door. To he was shot just before the train stopped. The shooter ran as soon as the doors opened. Abc7 News Reporter quintana has the details. We watched as police took a man into custody nearly two hours before the brutal shooting on this train. Its not clear if he was a suspect.
