President Uhuru Kenyatta has this morning toured various development projects in Nairobi County including the Green Park Bus Terminus at the Railways Club.
Uhuru who was accompanied by ODM leader Raila Odinga inspected the matatu terminus that was constructed by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, NMS.
During the impromptu tour that caught many unawares, Uhuru and Raila who were dressed casually were taken around the nearly half-finished park that has already been fitted with shades and eats for commuters to sit as they wait for their rides. ....

NMS erects bumps on Haile Selassie Avenue

Pedestrians and motorists have been advised to exercise caution.
NMS Director of Roads, Infrastructure and Public Works Engineer Michael Ochieng said the temporary steel structure will be erected to support the footbridge in the short term as plans for the construction of a new footbridge are concluded.
The bumps were erected after a zebra crossing had also been painted on the Avenue and signs already placed along the road for pedestrians’ use, a situation that will temporarily halt traffic flow along the busy Haile Selassie Avenue.
“The footbridge is quite significant for pedestrians crossing the Haile Selassie Avenue from Kenya Railways headquarters and its damage had to be addressed immediately,” said Ochieng. ....

NMS to relocate matatus from CBD in phases from January

Already, Green Park, Desai and Park Road Termini are near completion and will be the first to be opened as part of the decongestion strategy.
He explained that the phased reopening will see public service vehicles (PSVs) plying the Ngong and Langata Road routes, which will be terminating at the Green Park terminus, the first to be relocated.
Thereafter, the next step will be relocating matatus and long distance PSVs from Mt Kenya and those from the Thika Superhighway – that have been terminating at Tea room, Accra Road – which will drop and pick passengers at Desai and Park Road termini in Ngara. ....
