Chaos prevailed in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as candidates of two of its allies, the AIADMK and the BJP, filed nomination papers to contest from the same constituency, indicating that all is not well within the alliance.
The AINRC, which leads the NDA in Pondy, settled for 16 of the total 30 seats, leaving the remaining 14 to be shared between the AIADMK and BJP. The seat-sharing talks between the two parties did not reach a consensus after the saffron party insisted on contesting from 10 seats leaving, just four for the Dravidian party. But the AIADMK sought seven seats.
