If you are looking at the center of circulation spinning. you can see it right there areas of central georgia running right along the georgia alabama line. from areas along the mississippi all the way over to the atlanti atlantic. this is really spread out. if we getting a little bit as it drifts to the north and it has gotten very wide. i was actually trying to get a measure of this. stretching all the way over to norfolk, nearly 800 miles. just a massive, massive storm. at this point the heaviest showers, the heaviest thunderstorms, all of that activity embedded. that s all happening in the south carolina area into the north carolina area. it continues to be that front right quadrant. that s where we seen all the activity and that s where have been some standard storm watches and warnings. currently there aren t any but we are still looking at areas where all of these thunderstorms are very powerful, continuing to kind of wraparound and even even running onshore at times. ....

jon: i m surprised they are talking about getting the power back on state wide in the next ten days or so. hurricane andrew was a less intense storm, covered a much smaller quadrant of florida and it took ten days at least to get all the power back on after that storm that only crisscross the state. this one mode all the way up to the north from the south. i think it s important to learn that for everybody who is involved in a response to a disaster like this, we learn from every disaster, we learned from andrew in terms of building codes, the kind of responses that take place. we learned from katrina so all of those learnings are built into everyone who has to respond. i think you re also going to see one of the largest deployments of electrical company lineman, there are service agreements with states all across the country and other countries will be surging. ....

All-florida storm, hallie. it is. a lot of people will be in a rough situation far pretty long time. i think about the predictions of these crazy storm surges in the west coast of florida that didn t really materialize, what s the reasoning behind that? can you explain it? again, size, strength, and direction are everything with these storms. and they re very changing components once a storm has made landfall. so the eye of the storm moves into southwestern florida somewhere near that naples area, remember. so the forecast was for the storm the center of the storm to ride up that western coast of florida. that would have put the strongest part which is always that right northeast quadrant here, it would put the strongest part of the storm right on the most vulnerable coast florida has. and every one of those towns from naples all the way to sarasota to tampa in a area would have gotten the worst winds and the worst storm surge. and that storm surge at that time with that size of a ....

Little bit more higher winds. but then of course it s going to increase those storm surges. we were originally saying 10 feet in the tampa bay area and now it s looking closer to 60. laura: the fact that it s over orlando, i remember watching the early tracking of this. is this surprising that it s moved in towards orlando. a lot of people look at disney world and all the theme parks. adam: it s a little surprising. but we are getting to a very narrow area. this isn t too far off these big bands hopefully folks in orlando had a good idea this was coming. they are still in that front right quadrant where they can see tornadoes and thunderstorms and that s what s happening. laura rrm thank you so much. ....

Of uncertainty. that s in that front right quadrant as it makes its way to lake city, valdosta, columbus, some of the stronger winds, but even though it can still down winds down with gusts over 50 miles per hour we re still looking at sustained winds that are going to keep this system together enough to be a real pain. rainfall amounts, too. so again, it s not over with when it gets into areas like georgia and alabama. governor nathan diehl declared a state of emergency for 159 counties in georgia. a couple of things i want to point out. we re 50 miles now southeast of tampa with the eye. we ve had heavy rainfall blanketing areas of tampa, st. pete, clearwater, back down to sarasota on the back end. we are continuing, however, watching the southern flow keeping the water banged up against the coastline in the southwest. interesting to note if you have not been with us all day, it did make landfall as a category 4 in ....
