According to the records of the IMD, barring 2021, this year the city has witnessed the hottest January, so far, in the last 10 years.
The System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) has predicted the city to remain in the ‘very poor’ category for the next two days.
On Sunday the city recorded an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 166. However, Chembur and Mazagaon continued to remain in the ‘poor’ category with AQIs of 239 and 211 respectively.
