Galway Bay FM 1 April 2021 print Galway Bay fm newsroom – There are fresh calls for a review of the speed limits operating on some of the national routes across Galway city. Current limits operating on Bóthar Na Dtreabh , Quincentennial Bridge and along the Tuam road have been highlighted by public representatives as unsuitable at the latest meeting of the Galway City Joint Policing Committee. Senator Sean Kyne described the limit of 50 kilometres per hour in place for motorists on Bothar na dtreabh as ‘like shooting fish in a barrell’. While Councillors Terry O’ Flaherty and Eddie Hoare echoed calls for the city council and An Garda Siochana to review the situation. ....
Galway Bay FM 7 February 2021 print Galway Bay FM Newsroom – The Gardai and emergency services are continuing a search and rescue operation this morning after a woman was believed to have entered the water from Quincentennial Bridge, in Galway City yesterday evening. An Garda Síochána was assisted by the local fire brigade, civil defence, The R.N.L.I. and the Coast Guard as they carried out a search of the area. The search was stood down at 9pm last night and resumed at first light this morning. No further details are available at this time ....
Galway Bay FM 21 December 2020 print Galway Bay fm newsroom – A special convoy will travel across the city tomorrow to pay tribute to the “trojan work” carried out by frontline workers throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. City Mayor, Councillor Mike Cubbard, says the convoy will feature blue-light services and other frontline staff, with Santa expected to make an appearance. Councillor Cubbard is keen to stress there will be no stopping or interaction, nor will people be permitted to join the convoy. But he’s asking the public to applaud and show their appreciation for frontline workers as the convoy passes through their area. ....
